OLAVO ABRANTES WINS Best Production Design AT The British Short Film Awards
We are overjoyed to announce that Production Designer, Olavo Abrantes, has been awarded Best Production Design at The British Short Film Awards for his work on ‘Recursive Dreams’.
Directed by Max Vanderspuy, the sci-fi starring Freddie Carter, is set in a desperate future and centres around theft of memories and dreams.
Featuring impeccable and incredible designs, custom-made models and props, ‘RecursiveDreams’ premiered at The British Urban Film Festival, and was produced by Daniel Jewel and Daniel Panyko, and shot by cinematographer Nicolas Booth (also at Undercranked Represents).
Abrantes began his film career as a model maker and art department assistant working on studio features including Matt Reeve’s ‘The Batman’, and Daniel Espinosa’s ‘Moribus’, later moving into draftsperson on Steven Soderbergh’s recent blockbuster ‘Black Bag’ and J.C. Chandor’ ‘Kraven the Hunter’, alongside HETV credits with Sky’s ‘Mr Bigstuff’, and Netlix’s co-production with Amblin, ‘The Thursday Murder Club’, which wrapped in late 2024.
Abrantes adds his latest and well-deserved award to previous accolades and nominations, which include those from The British Film Designers Guild Award and The Art Directors Guild’s shared win for Excellence in Production Design on The Batman.
